Professor Raymond Chan
Prof Raymond Chan is a Professor of Nursing, jointly appointed by Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, Queensland University of Technology and Metro North Hospital and Health Service. Prof Chan is currently the President of the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia. Prof Chan’s research program focuses on the health services’ and health professionals’ responses to the needs of people affected by cancer in the survivorship phase. His research interests also include management of distressing cancer- or treatment-related toxicities, management of intravascular devices, and palliative end-of-life care. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles, 9 peer-reviewed abstracts and 13 non-refereed articles. He has conducted a number of invited lectures and presented 85 abstracts at national and international conferences. In total, he has attracted over $5million of competitive research grants as CI ($875,250 AUD as CIA), including four NHMRC project grants and one NHMRC fellowship. Recently, he has been commissioned by the Queensland Government to undertake a pilot evaluation of the Nurse Navigator Program - a $105 million initiative that aims to improve health service coordination and enable efficient patient-centred care in chronic disease management.
